Suicide Prevention Counseling

in the 1980's when i was an elder, i don't remember the society providing any guidance to elders on suicide prevention counseling.

i realize much has changed since then.

can any current/recent elders update me on what the current position of the local elders would be if approached by someone in the congregation contemplating suicide and seeking help?.

I am looking for charts or any statistical study done to prove that suicide within the JW's is high comparatively to other groups. Has anyone done this statistical analysis? It would really come in handy during conversation. Does anyone have a Megastat for this? Thx

One of my childhood friends became very suicidal after he got DF'd. I kept on talking to him. I was always getting pulled into the back room (cuartito) to tell me to stop talking to DF'd folks. I was adamant in treating all people fairly. I don't know how I didn't get in more trouble for contesting sh#t, but hell, I always pissed them elders off anyway. I hate self-righteous crap.......

Many of those ugly a## Bastards think they are good looking too. I would see them looking at my wife and other young sisters. I'd get a kick out of seeing their desperate ploys. I knew a few slow (Sped) sisters that would actually welcome the elders hitting on them. Just sayin......LOL!!

That reminds me of all the young dudes my age that are now elders, and self righteous as hell. When they well know that I was one brother that would discourage them from heavy petting with the girls that were hanging out with us. Quite a few of them also committed frequent fornication after they were used to the petting. Now they are elders and pretend to be clean. So I guess they justify their filth through that loop hole in the Shepard the Flock Elder book. So I sincerely think my wife and I look a lot younger than their decrepit selves and wives because we left all that stressful BS. Good topic John!

my fleshy sister is seriously getting to my nerves.

she's my only (and younger) sister, and as you know, is married to an uber-circuit overseer.

They will be on you until you die, if you don't leave. Just fade and keep yourself neutral. We moved congregations out of the circuit and faded, It's turned out great for my wife and me.

If you want the suffering and pressure to continue, then stay. Watch out for your health and take care of your immediate family.

Getting it out of my system, a VERY long introduction/outpouring..

after a few months of lurking on this site, i've decided to take the plunge...i don't really care so much about introducing myself, but somehow there is some relief in the thought of getting my little story out there, just getting it out of my system.

i am the oldest of 5 kids.

My wife, family and I welcome you. My mother gave study to a very humble and striving family like yours. She sure as hell surprised me in having the patience at the time for this study, being that my mother looked down on everyone around her/including us, her children. I eventually came to grasp that my mom had so many studies because she wanted to save herself, and this was her selfish main interest. I congratulate you for surviving and still keeping your head up. My studies in psychology, and my wife's intelligent ways helped us through our fading away. We had our huge JW wedding along with our ceremony in the hall. We faded weeks after, and what helped is that we moved away to a new house and never reported to our new hall. It was slightly uncomfortable at first since the brothers would come and look for us. What also helped is that we kept our gate locked and they couldn't come into our property. (The gate is 40 yards from our front door, LOL!!! "We can't hear you brothers!..")

Our message to you is this, being away gets easier by the week and before you know it, you will feel that you are happy without all the scrutiny and self-righteous behavior that the brothers and sisters are eager in dishing. If you feel you need religion, then seek one that fits you, and your future mates needs. We got distant from all men's writings and have studied too much and learned too much to go back to religion. We wish you an ongoing enlightenment and a joyous opening to your options.

some of you know about my son's condition and how he almost died had it not been for the transfusion he received.. my wife took him to the children's hospital for routine labs and pain in his leg.

Nice Job, My mother prepared me to die, if I had too, since an early age. I was so brain washed that I always thought it would be a heroic death and kinda wished upon it. I knew that my family would be glorified if this happened. Yes, I was always trying to please my mother more than Jehovah. I would have died for a bit of mom's approval, and all for a narcissistic parent that is now leaving everything to the WT. Thank goodness that my father, although a weekend alcoholic, had his head on straight and brought love and balance to my life. He never believed in this cult but would attend the meetings to please mom.

i made a quick run to lowes to buy some paint and ran into a brother.

he is one of those elders that is very, very, petty.

if he drops by your house unexpected and notices that your kids are watching one of the star wars movies, he will counsel you for allowing your kids to watch any movie that has to do with war he will then make sure you are not recommended for any privilege.
